We originally hired Jim to redo a horrible fence we had that surrounded part of our property and a paddle tennis court. Jim was very patient me as I went back and forth between the style of fence that was going to look best in my yard. He gave me some great ideas and some different projects that he had completed so I could see the actual ideas we were discussing. We had a retaining wall that was falling apart that supported the paddle court and was connected to our fence. Jim’s crew did an amazing job of creating a seamless look between the fence and the retaining wall while at the same time making it stronger and more durable than it had been upon the original installation.

We loved the look of our fence so much we decided to have Jim come back and do the other end of our yard. I LOVE MY FENCE it truly brings the entire yard together. I would highly recommend Jim. As with any job, there are things that come up that are unexpected. Owner Jim came over and helped us plan out a new design, one that was a better fit for our yard and that would feature higher-quality (i.e. longer lasting) materials. Within 48 hours he gave us a thorough and thoughtful estimate, including a sample of the Trex composite material he’d use. (A nice touch which really helped us visualize what the deck would look like.) A deck is a big investment, and he was great about answering all our questions before we took the plunge. Jim’s crew was great. They were expert craftsman, as well as extremely professional and friendly. From demolition to construction, it was all top-notch AAA work. They made phenomenal progress every day. Jim was often onsite, and always in contact. The final result? A deck that we love. We still can’t believe it.

Jim and his team did an A-job on our residential fence. The quality of the work is topnotch and they finished the work on time. My wife and I are very happy with the results. Highly recommended.

We hired Durham Fence Company to do a fencing project comprised of several steep grades and multiple areas requiring earth retainment. This project was large-scale in nature, as it involved 5 total properties (our home plus 4 neighbors) and over 250ft of fencing. I am admittedly detail-oriented and had a plethora of questions and comments prior to, during, and after the job. Jim never gave me grief about my numerous inquiries and always responded to them in a timely fashion. From start to finish, he and his crew were extremely professional and thorough. ??I read the Yelp posts prior to hiring Jim and had concerns about the 2 negative reviews. I don’t want to discredit the other individuals as their experiences were what they were; however, I can say that my experience with Jim and Durham Fence Company was superb. Jim did not appear to cut corners to minimize cost: the materials were top-notch, post holes were appropriately deep, and concrete footings were deep and wide enough to support the posts but not so high that they were an eyesore. The crew cleaned the property at the end of each day and did a more comprehensive cleaning at the conclusion of the project. Some plants were lost over the course of the project and there was some minimal residual dirt after the job was complete; however, this is a major construction event and I fully expected that there would be some collateral damage. In the end, these losses were minimal.??Overall, I would highly recommend Durham Fence Company without reservation. It was a delight to work with Jim and I plan to refer him to any of my friends with fencing needs.

I called Jim for an estimate and we was quick to get me an estimate and his price was the best of the three companies I looked at. His workers were easy to communicate with and finished the job on time. The fence is the nicest redwood fence I have seen yet and the gates are great too. The fence is now complete and the craftsmanship on the fence is superb. I will be using him again for my next fence project.

We used Durham Fence company to replace a back yard fence a while back. Jim was very professional and knowledgeable about what we needed. I do not like overkill salespeople that try to sell you something you dont need and he did not do that. The fence has held up beautifully and I would definitely use Durham Fence again.

We just completed the replacement of a fence in our backyard. Jim and his crew did a superb job. Not only were they a pleasure to work with, they also provided detailed craftsmanship and experience in every step of the project. Our expectations were surpassed when the guys kept working in the rain… Oh… and did I say the fence looks fantastic? Fabulous work!

I met Jim and his crew over four years ago, when we were in need of an emergency fence repair, someone ran into our fence with their car. We had two dogs, small children, so the fence was crucial. His crew came and removed a chain link fence and a redwood fence, when he said they would and at his quoted price. A year later a neighbor and I decided to replace our shared fence, which included a retaining wall, again at the quoted price and when he said he would. Our relationship didn’t stop there, because two years later after remodeling our yard, Jim and his same crew replaced the remaining sections of our fence at the quoted price and when he said he would. It was a challenging job, because of the steep grades and the fence had to cross over a stream. Jim and his crew, who are the same men for over four years, always have been prompt, courteous and skillful to their trade. I have and will continue to recommend Jim to anyone in need of a quality, well crafted fence.
